Toyota Not Looking to Use CarPlay Any Time Soon

Toyota is not looking to implement Apple's CarPlay or Android Auto.
Apple may have been able to grab a lot of attention on its CarPlay service but it looks like early integration isn't happening as fast as expected.
One car manufacturer writing-off the CarPlay integration is Toyota, confident its own dashboard system will be enough for the next few years.

This is an odd move by Toyota considering the popularity of the iPhone in Japan is unmatched even by local brands like Sony. The company didn't comment on the move away from CarPlay.
Other car manufacturers are going the other way and integration their own, CarPlay and Android Auto, giving customers the choice when it comes to dashboard.
Ford is already offering both alongside its own Sync 3.0 service. It's a much better option than Toyota's single-option that already lacks key features CarPlay and Android Auto offer.
Volkswagen is another company focused on delivering choice. It announced CarPlay would be integrated alongside Android Auto and its own MirrorLink service.
It's clear the battle for the dashboard is starting to heat up but partnerships may not be the winner in this market. Instead user choice will matter more and both Apple and Google will need to be on top of their game.
