The legendary 'Mary Poppins' star gave the most heartwarming speech in the Dolby Theatre, where the Academy Awards event was held.
"Dear Lady Gaga, thank you for that wonderful tribute. It really warmed my heart. It really did," says the 79 year old star, as she hugged the 'Poker Face' singer.
Lady Gaga trained with a voice coach everyday for 6 months in preparation for the 50th Academy Award performance.
"She worked half a year with a vocal coach everyday for half a year to do that," says Oscar executive producer Craig Zadan, in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
Neil Meron, also an Oscar executive producer, highly praises the 'Applause' singer expressing the fact that she can do anything.
While netizens and Lady Gaga's little monsters applaud the performance, there were also a few people who were not pleased with the musical tribute.
One of them was Shonda Rimes, star of Scandal who tweeted that it was 'not okay'.
However, for the 'Mary Poppins'actress Julie Andrews, she was still all praises for the pop singer, even after the event.
"I have always been a fan, but last night we bonded and now I have a new friend," says Andrews, in an interview with People Magazine.
"I was deeply honored by the Academy's lovely tribute to The Sound of Music and especially touched by Lady Gaga's performance," she further added.
The movie, Sound of Music, won Best Picture in the 1965 Academy Awards. It was loosely based on the novel about the life of the Trapp family singers.
