British security services allegedly requested Tanzania to deny the entry of Mohammed Emwazi, the ISIS killer "Jihadi John," in 2009.
According to a Tanzanian police, Emwazi, together with some of his friends, were not allowed to enter Tanzania per request of the British security services.

This revelation corresponded to the claims of Cage, a London activist group that claimed to receive emails from Emwazi.
In one of the emails, Emwazi claimed that he was maltreated by Tanzanian authorities and was denied entry to Tanzania despite his assertions that he would just be there for vacation.
A Tanzanian police, who requested anonymity, said that Dar es Salaam Airport security officers refused the entry of Emwazi and his friends, a British and a German, upon their arrival in the airport because they were listed under the immigration's stop list.
"I think the stop order against Emwazi and his friends was issued at the request of the British intelligence service," the Tanzanian police source said.
"When Emwazi and his friends were told they would not be allowed to enter Tanzania, they caused a commotion and tried to force their way out of the airport," the source added.
Because of the commotion, Emwazi and his friends were arrested and detained at the Stakishari Ukonga.
Immigration officials took them for questioning before they were sent back to Tanzania.
The Tanzanian Police source added that Emwazi was never tortured in Tanzania.
"In fact, (they) caused a fracas at the airport after being told they were prohibited from entering the country due to the presence of an immigration stop order against the entry," the source said.
According to British courts, Emwazi was believed to be an associate of Bilal al Berjawi, the leader of Somalian militant group al Shabaab.
Since the unmasking of the true identity of "Jihadi John", speculations emerged on the role of British security and intelligence services that pushed Emwazi to join ISIS.
Accordingly, because of the alleged harassments and interrogations in Tanzania, as well as the alleged spying of M15 on him, Emwazi decided to take comfort with the ISIS.
