While everyone has written the Chicago Bulls off with the recurring injuries of their superstar, Derrick Rose himself has not lost hope and is optimistic at his good chances of returning this season.

In an interview with reporters sometime after his most recent knee surgery, Rose said that coming back this season is the plan. He adds though that whenever he feels right will be the time for him to step back into it.

He told reporters that he has been performing well in every workout, but refused to give a solid promise to return to the Bulls. He also did not comment on his team's previous estimate for his return within four to six weeks.

For Rose, the prospect of his return is not his main focus. Instead, it is, "getting the most out of every day".

Reporters asked him whether he could opt out of his return if something does not feel right, as what happened in 2013 during his ACL rehab.

While he conceded that it is a possibility, he also assured that the way he is feeling right now indicates a good chance of him coming back.

If Rose - averaging 18.4 points and five assists in 46 games - returns within four games, his first match will be against the New York Knicks on March 23 at Chicago.

However, if he returns after six weeks, he will only have three regular season games left to play in.

The one thing he can promise though is that he is not going to ease himself back into action if he makes a comeback this season.

There will be no pacing, Rose says. If he were to return, then he would be playing the way he normally plays.

The fans of Chicago are hoping that Rose can return this season, even going so far as to hold vigils for his recovering knee.
