Twitter, Foursquare Partner for Accurate Location Search

Twitter is teaming up with Foursquare to offer location specific tweets from businesses as a new way to diversify its advertising abilities to marketers.
This means when businesses or users post a location on a tweet, users will not only be able to check out the location but what's happening nearby.

Foursquare's large collection of business locations and events allows Twitter to show off tons of events. The microblogging site didn't disclose the details behind the arrangement.
Twitter will launch the location based tweets in specific markets, including New York and San Francisco where location-based services receive more attention.
Foursquare has seen "triple digit growth" after the app split, re-launching the Foursquare app for discovery and Swarm for checking-in. The service has around 55 million active users across both apps, although neither is in the top 200 most popular apps.
Location is starting to become less relevant in the social world due to the surveillance scare that pushed teenagers away from public apps and into the world of Snapchat, Yik Yak and Rooms.
Twitter can be classified as a private app as it allows users to sign-up with any alias and doesn't track IP addresses. The new location features allow users to check-in but aren't necessary for anyone that wants to keep information hidden from surveillance technology.
