The Maryland Terrapins female basketball team decided they had enough hearing about the previously undefeated Princeton Tigers squad. So they decided to pool their efforts, beat the Tigers (85-70), and move in to the round of 16 in the NCAA tournament.
College Park last Monday night saw the Terrapins in high spirits as they knocked out the Tigers in the round of 32. Maryland guard Laurin Mincy said that President Obama picking them to win gave an added boost of motivation to win over Princeton.

The motivation seemed to have work as Mincy scored 27 points with a career-high six three point shots in seven attempts.
Point guard Lexie Brown had 23 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Finally, reserve forward Tierney Pfirman contributed all of her 11 points in the first half.
The Tiger's plan was to take away the inside advantage of the Terrapins. However, when they did so, the Terrapins showed off their three point prowess from beyond the arc.
In the second half alone, the Terrapins made seven out of eight and shot for 60% from distance.
Despite the Tigers holding a 46-20 margin on points in the paint, it was not enough to stop the Terrapins' rampage throughout the court.
The win extended their program's winning record to a total of 26 games. Overall though, the Terrapins have an impressive record of 32-2.
The win catapults them to the round of 16 where they will meet their long-time rivals, number four seed Duke Blue Devils.
The Terrapins are in fine form under the leadership of Head Coach Brenda Frese. She was voted the Big Ten coach of the year after she led her team to an undefeated streak in the Big Ten regular season and a conference tournament title to boot.
With her direction, the Terrapins make their fourth straight appearance and seventh overall in the round of 16.
