MTV Video Music Awards 2014: Beyonce Leads Nomination with 8 Nods

Beyoncé was named Most Influential Celebrity in the Forbes Celebrity 100 list released Monday.

Amidst the cheating scandal rocking Beyonce and Jay-Z’s marriage, the “Partition” singer is leading the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards with 8 nominations.

The former Destiny’s Child singer tops the nomination for Video of the Year for “Drunk in Love,” she had collaborated with Jay-Z. She is also a strong contender for the Best Female Video award for “Partition.”

Queen B has also been nominated for “Best Collaboration” award (with husband Jay-Z on "Drunk in Love"), Best Choreography ("Partition"), and Best Video with a Social Message ("Pretty Hurts"), said Starpulse.

Beyonce is also nominated for the Best Cinematography, Best Direction and Best Editing awards for “Pretty Hurts.”

Veteran rapper Eminem and newcomer, Iggy Azalea trailed Queen B with seven nominations. The Aussie singer will also be competing against Beyonce in the Video of the Year award for her hit song, “Fancy.”

Miley Cyrus will also be vying against Queen B in the Video of the Year award for “Wrecking Ball.” It will be recalled that Cyrus had everyone talking at the 2013 MYV VMAs for her raunchy performance singing “Blurred Lines” with Robin Thicke.

The New York Daily News noted that Usher, Ariana, and 5 Seconds of Summer have been named as the top performers in the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards which will be held at LA.’s The Forum on MTV on Sun., Aug. 24 at 9 p.m.
