The past five months have not been easy for Lavigne, since she was bedridden for quite some time, battling the disease.
The singer concludes that she contracted the disease from a tick bite last spring. She initially had symptoms of being lightheaded and lethargy. The physicians couldn't pinpoint the disease right away.
Lavigne recuperated in her home in Ontario. Her husband, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, made use of tour breaks to personally care for her. Lavigne's mother helped in the care as well, she moved in her home to assist the 30 year old singer's needs.
"There were definitely times I couldn't shower for a full week because I could barely stand. It felt like having the life sucked out of you," said Lavigne.
After her brief disappearance caused the public to speculate whether she was pregnant, in rehab or having marital problems, one fan Twitter account posted a direct message from the singer, soliciting prayers because of health issues.
Lavigne wholehearted appreciated the concern of the fans after her direct message went viral.
"The get-well messages and videos they sent touched me so deeply," said the 'Skater Boi' singer.
"I just want to enjoy life from here on out," she further added.
The singer is now 80% better, but still in the process of recovering from the disease. However, this ordeal change Lavigne's perspective towards and it served as a "wake-up call"
Lavigne is currently releasing a new single this month in honor of the 2015 Special Olympics.
