According to The New York Times, less than two months from the time Ebola survivor Dr. Ian Crozier was released from the hospital, he suffered from an explainable pain that caused his left eye vision fade. Surprisingly he discovered that his blue eye is now green. According to doctors who check Dr. Crozier's condition, the Ebola virus drenched his eye which he thought as the main reason.

It is unusual for our eyes to change color in a short period of time. This case only happens when there is a viral infection and it turns permanent after the sickness. Your iris changes color if it pigmented cell is damage by a viral infection. After Dr. Crozier's treatment, his eye back to its normal color and the reason behind it is still unclear.

Dr. C. Stephen Foster, clinical professor of ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School and the chief executive officer of the Massachusetts Eye Research and Surgery Institution, for being an eye doctor for 40 years, he had never seen such reversibility. He thinks that the main reason for his change in eye color is because of the result of viral infection that initiate "transformation" in the nature of its iris, which is uniform everywhere. This metabolic change on its iris is still a mystery. Foster added that this may occur again to the rest of Ebola survivors.

Since the time Ebola epidemic spread in some countries, the concentration is more on how to treat and prevent the Ebola from spreading. Now, doctors are facing the question of what are the after effects of this Ebola to the survivors or known as 'Post-Ebola Syndrome. Croizer and other West African survivors complained about many symptoms like eyesight problem, joint pains, muscle and chest pain that have been present from the time they acquire the virus.

World Health Organization emphasizes that West Africa survivors need help in monitoring condition because aside from psychological and social needs, they have to surpass the after-effects of the disease. This is to make sure that there will be no problem in the future.
