"From day one, our mission has been to redefine what people expect from a non-contract carrier and we're delivering. We were first to offer unlimited U.S. long distance, first to give unlimited text and picture messaging, first to provide unlimited music and now we're first to bring the Microsoft Lumia 640 in the US," said Andy Smoak head of devices for Cricket Wireless.
Cricket is the first carrier in the U.S. to bring the device to its consumers with free services from Microsoft like Skype calling and Office 365 Personal, specifically for those who purchase Lumia 640 between May 15 and June 30.
The carrier added that there is a free year of Office 365 Personal subscription including the latest desktop version of the Microsoft Office, which allows the user to edit and access their files using the device.
Aside from the Office 365 Personal subscription, there is also a free year of Skype calling with 60 minutes per month and 30 GB of OneDrive storage that gives users access to their files such as music and photos, directly from the device.
For reference, according to Microsoft, the Lumia 640 LTE has a 5-inch ClearBlack IPS LCD display with 1280 x 720 resolution and display features that include Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection against scratches, sunlight readability and Lumia color profile.
It runs on Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim and will be updated to Windows 10 once it became available, cited PhoneDog.
It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz. It is also equipped with 8 GB built-in memory, 1 GB of RAM and a maximum memory card size of up to 128 GB.
The Microsoft Lumia 640 LTE has 2,500 mAh battery capacity with a maximum standby time for 36 days. When it comes to the camera, the smartphone has a 0.9MP front camera with a video resolution of 720p. The rear camera, meanwhile, has 8 megapixels with camera features such as dynamic flash, a backside-illuminated sensor and rich capture.
