Blizzard went on the offensive against bots after it banned approximately 100,000 "World of Warcraft" (WoW) accounts. In the wake of the massive ban, Bossland the developer of the Honorbuddy bots announced their surrender by closing down their authentication system for Honorbuddy.

Bossland made the announcement on the Honorbuddy forum and the developer conceded that Blizzard already has the means to detect their bots. The statement said that their bots can now be identified although they do not exactly know how blizzard does it. It apologized to the subscribers who got banned and hope that they can use their accounts again after the six month period.
It is worthy to note that a number of banned accounts were used for the past ten years. Although Bossland sympathize for the ban, it pointed out that such risks were always an ever present threat. It also reminded bot users that they should never use their important accounts in such risky enterprise.
Bossland hinted that Blizzard is more focused on detecting his bots since the WoW developer was unsuccessful in a prior legal battle with them. It even cited a 2007 legal case which pitted Blizzard against the creators of Glider bot - Blizzard was successful in that suit.
The Honorbuddy bot, once activated by the player will be able to handle most of the repetitive tasks such as collection of resources and human gamers in PvP matches tend to encounter a lot of these bots. According to Blizzard, the use of bots in their online game violates the terms and conditions of WoW. It is said that it took the game developer some time to pinpoint and differentiate the actual human players from that of the bots.
Bossland also stated that they thought that the Honorbuddy bot was "unbeatable"; however, Blizzard has proven them wrong.
While the bot maker has shutdown their authentication system, it hinted that it will soon be back once it can find a way around the new defenses Blizzard has installed.
