South Korean tech giant Samsung recently released a statement confirming its plan to launch a Blue Topaz version of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and a Green Emerald version for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.

The new color variant will add a wider consumer option for the current available colors including Gold Platinum, White Pearl and Black Sapphire. Samsung made the announcement on May 17 but the company did not provide an actual timeline regarding the official release date of the two new color variants.

Samsung executive vice president of global marketing Younghee Lee said, "The Blue Topaz Galaxy S6 represents the perfect fashion accessory for style-conscious consumers looking for a vibrant, expressive and distinctive color, and the Green Emerald Galaxy S6 edge provides a simply stunning color that meets the needs of those who wants a sophisticated, yet unique looking mobile device."

The two new color variants was first announced when Samsung unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S6 in Mobile World Congress 2015, according to Phone Arena.

The new color variants will be available on all models of the two Samsung flagship smartphones. These includes the 32GB, 64GB and 128GB models.

According to SamsungTomorrow, the Blue Topaz variant gives out a striking but at the same time subtle blue hue. The report added that the Green Emerald color represents new life and exemplifies harmony presented in Samsungs' design philosophy calling it "beauty meets purpose."

The Samsung Galaxy S6 was launched with an octa-core Samsung Exynos processor with 3 gigabyt of LPDDR4 RAM. It will run on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop operating system. Samsung made a crucial decision of removing storage expansion options and instead offer the Galaxy S6 in three variants depending on storage capacity; 32GB, 62GB and 128GB.

Both Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will have a 16 megapixel rear-facing camera with OIS technology.

According to GSM Arena, the official launch date of the new colors will vary by region.
