Top 10 Travel Destinations in China: From The Forbidden City in Beijing to The Terracotta Army in Xi’an

Late Spring, which falls under the months of April to May, is said to be the most comfortable time to travel to China. Temperatures are said to be optimal. In addition to the good weather, the throng of travelers are much less than during the summer holiday. So where should one go when in China? Here are the top 10 destinations.

1. The Great Wall of China. A trip to China is incomplete without having stepped foot at the Great Wall in China in Beijing. Named as the longest wall in the world, the Great Wall spans the western frontier of China to the east coast. It has a total of 3,100 miles.
2. Hong Kong. Apart from the panoramic and 1 Million Dollar views, Hong Kong is known as the shopping capital. During a visit at Hong Kong, one should not date miss the Chi Lin Nunnery and the Nan Lian Garden.
3. The Yellow Mountains. Close to Hangzhou and Shanghai, the Yellow Mountains is known as a Top National Park in China. The scenic area with the five wonders namely, the seas of clouds, the sun rise, pine trees, hot springs, and rock formations have wooed a number of travelers.
4. Pandas in Chengdu. Not just any panda in China will do, which is why a trip to the giant pandas at the Chengdu zoo is a must. For travelers headed to Chengdu, there are three places in the area where one can meet these black and white furry creatures. These would be the Dujiangyan Panda Valley, Bifengxia Panda Base, and the Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center.
5. Shanghai. The largest city in China, Shanghai promises to take travelers to the past, the present, and the future of China. One should not miss the Riverside Promenade and the Shanghai Circus World.
6. Hangzhou's West Lake. Take a trip on the calm side of China at Hangzhou. Dubbed as "paradise on earth" in China, West Lake was created for the Chinese adoration of garden styled parks. Take a boat ride or a leisurely stroll on a bike around the area.
7. The Terracotta Army. Found in Xi'an, the Terracotta Army is one of China's World Cultural Heritage. The life-sized models were found in 1974 and has laid underground for approximately 2,000 years.
8. The Forbidden City. Located in Beijing, the palace demonstrates an extravagance in Chinese architecture. The Forbidden City has more than 8,000 rooms. Along with the Palace of Versailles in France, White House in US, Buckingham Palace in the UK, and Kremlin in Russia, the Forbidden City is named one of the most important palaces of the world.
9. Potala Palace. A symbol of Tibet found in Lhasa, the Potala Palace is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. It is home to articles and artifacts of the Tibetan culture, art, and history.
10. Longsheng County. If the Philippines boasts of their Rice Terraces in Banaue, China too has its own version in the Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces of Longsheng County.
