Open Road Films recently released their red band trailer for the Sundance hit movie, "DOPE" and no other word describes it better than its name: it is dope.

Starring relatively newcomers Shameik Moore, Kiersey Celmons and Tony Revolori as the leads, the movie tells a day in the life of Malcolm, who gets invited to an underground party, only to find a stash of drugs in his bag. Together with his friends, they go on an adventure to find the people who were responsible for putting the drugs in his bag, only to end up finding themselves.

The red band trailer allows the viewers to get a better ideas of the plot, and Geek Tyrant fully approves of the first minute alone. The trailer also reveals a star-studded supporting cast, from Zoe Kravitz, model Chanel Iman, "Workaholics" star Blake Anderson, and recording artists A$AP Rocky and Tyga.Slash Film suggests that fans only watch half of the trailer, because the trailer packed a lot of information about the movie in two and a half minutes, but still left a lot to allow fans to be excited about the film.

The film will come to theaters this June, and Variety reports that Open Road is really pumping up hype for the movie, since it will release alongside other summer movies, including "Inside Out," the latest movie from box office juggernaut Pixar.

The lack of top-billed star power may be to blame for incessant advance hyping of Open Road, but they do have Pharrell Williams as executive producer, who not only provided new songs for the film but has also played a key role in markting the film via social media. Forest Whitaker also takes charge as producer for the film.

Here is to hoping that the indie great makes it out of the box office, perhaps not as a blockbuster, but as a means of showing that there is hope in filmmaking.
