In a measure to promote sustainable way of living, Portlander Jessica Chan created WINKpen which can use any liquid as ink and thus never run out of ink. The nib pen fashions a state-of-the-art glass nib.
The grooves on the nib help present an aesthetic feel to the writing by providing interfacing between the nib and the paper. Also, the glass is resistant to corrosion thus offering advantage over the traditional nib pens with metallic nibs.

Reports by Oh Gizmo! further allege that the pen is a remarkable achievement in the throwaway culture prevalent presently. Apart from sensitizing the world about Sustainable Development, this pen will also help to reduce the amount of waste generated globally.
According to Chan, the development took over a year and hundreds of unsuccessful prototypes. The final product helps produce a healthy amalgamation between environmental awareness and modern aesthetics, as per detailed reports by GizMag.
The pen can use any liquid, which possess a capability to stain paper, such as Coffee, Tea, Wine, Beer, Ketchup and Juice, in addition to the now obsolete Ink. This is a novel way to use any kind of staining fluid as ink, because then the pen can never run out of ink, said reports. It can be used to write with almost any kind of imaginable fluid, which can stain paper, though pure water is a notable exception.
However, WINKpen cannot be used to sign official documents though its use can be promoted at the domestic level for making shopping lists and writing phone messages, says CoolestGaadgets.com.
It is said that the multifaceted pen makes sure that its user uses anything within the range of their hands to refill it, wherein they do not have to leave their respective seat time and again. Submerging the tip in the liquid to be refilled followed by a small twist at the end of the pen refills it - an easy user friendly manner.
Chan priced the pen at $60 which is a little steep for being a simple stationary item; however, due to its novel and myriad forms of ink, it is justified as it is definitely a tech-savvy item.
