After conducting a short beta test on its products, Chinese smartphone developer Xiaomi is set to begin taking merchandise to western markets. The tech company revealed that it will be launching the first Mi store on the U.S. in June 1. Stores will then open the next day in Germany, France, and the U.K.

Xiaomi first unveiled its plans to reach out to the western markets as far back as February, with a statement that the stores will open in Mid-May; however, due to some undisclosed circumstances, the launch has been moved to June. According to GSM Arena, the June 1 launch will occur at 7:00 p.m. PGT in the U.S., and at 1:00 p.m. CEST in the European market.
It is important to note, though, that the first Mi stores in the aforementioned locations will not be selling Xiaomi smartphones just yet, instead, they will be offering phone accessories like battery packs and headphones. It is said that there is a good chance that this is Xiaomi's way of testing their product's feasibility in a market they have yet to expand into.
The Chinese tech company has also mentioned that there will be shipping and return policies as well as warranties for the merchandise, which will be shipped from China. Nevertheless, Xiaomi has yet to disclose the specific details of these terms.
One of the main accessories people will be able to buy in Xiaomi stores is the MiBand, an affordable fitness band that monitors the wearer's movements, as well as their sleeping patterns. Although the company is yet to release the pricing details for the band, its Chinese currency cost is equivalent to $13 in the United States. The MiBand itself is made of silicon, which means the fitness band is quite comfortable to wear. The device is also quite easy to set up and calibrate.
Another cool accessory one might find amongst the soon-to-open Mi stores' inventory are the Mi Headphones, which is equipped with 50mm beryllium diaphragm drivers encased in a semi-open design, with interchangeable over-ear or in-ear covers. This makes the Mi headphones easy to customize and suit to each customer's tastes.
