Four-division world champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32 KOs) is set to face Australian Daniel Geale (31-3, 16 KOs) on Saturday to defend his WBC and The Ring Middleweight titles at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

It would have been another day at the office for Cotto as he prepares himself for the 44th fight of his illustrious career. But Geale told reporters something about their catch weight agreement. Something that allegedly pissed off the Puerto Rican brawler.

"I think the people are making a big issue that doesn't need to be a big issue," Cotto said in an interview with Ringside Report's Bad Brad.

Cotto proceeded to explain that the catch weight is not something that he made up. It was part of the contract he emphasized that Geale was well aware of it when he signed the dotted line. The Puerto Rican even cited his own fight against Manny Pacquiao when he agreed to a 145-pound catch weight to fight the Filipino icon.

"Did anyone hear Miguel Cotto disagreeing with the catch weight (against Pacquiao)? No. Catch weight was our main point to make this fight happen," the 5-foot-7 champion snorted, referring to himself in the third person and obviously irritated.

According to an article by Newsday's Greg Logan, the 5-foot-10 Tasmania native told the media that Cotto's team aims to diminish his height and reach advantage over the champ, which is why the fight was offered on a catch weight.

Geale admits that the three-pound difference would mean a lot in distorting his preparations, but he will definitely be at 100 percent once the fight starts on Saturday.

The fight is perhaps the biggest one of the Australian's career, as per Boxing Scene's Jake Donovan. His last fight was a unanimous decision win over fellow Australian Jarrod Fletcher. His most notable one, however, was the fight before that, a third-round technical knockout loss to Kazakhstan's Gennady Golovkin.

Meanwhile, Cotto's last fight was a sensational win over middleweight champion Sergio Martinez of Argentina. The Puerto Rican dominated that fight, knocking down the Argentinian three times in the first round and another one in the ninth round that made Martinez retire on his stool.
