There is quite a handful of superhero movies slated to be released in the next few years. "Aquaman" is one of them, and with James Wan helming the underwater hero flick, DC fans are definitely talking.
"Furious 7" helmer James Wan has been credited to have a knack for character development, and Geek Tyrant expressed how they would prefer to see the director spearhead the "Justice League" movie over Zack Snyder, who is mentioned to be great with visuals but lacks the storytelling skills that Wan possess.

"Aquaman" first came into the consciousness of the people after a portrait of "Game of Thrones" star Jason Momoa appeared on the Internet in full Aquaman costume and with an overlaying text "Unite the seven." At that point, everyone was speculating that it was either a call to unite the seven seas or a call to unite the seven main members of the Justice League, which Deadline listed as one of the upcoming DC Entertainment movies lined up, along with "Batman v. Superman" and the highly-anticipated "Wonder Woman" standalone movie. They also mentioned that this film will be a major tent pole for Warner Bros., which just goes to show that they are really starting to invest on their superhero franchise, after Marvel is starting to deliver boatloads into the foray.
However, "Aquaman" will not be the only project James Wan will be working on. The Verge reported that "The Conjuring" director also has the upcoming "Robotech" film with Sony Pictures, which the company hopes to springboard into a franchise massive enough to compete with Michael Bay's "Transformers."
Overall, James Wan is a great choice by Warner Bros. to include in their arsenal of directors, given that compared to Marvel, the DC Cinematic Universe is still at a zero. Wan can be the start of a great storytelling edge for the studio, since DC has always been ripe for a good storyteller. "Aquaman" will not hit theaters until 2018, but the anticipation alone is enough to make fanboys excited.
