(Photo : Reuters) Gamers experience lags as Bethesda Softworks' "Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited" transitions from the PC to consoles.
"Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited," game creator Bethesda Softworks' latest game in the "Elder Scrolls" series, shifts to a buy-to-play status as it gears up for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One console release. Unfortunately, players are still faced with technical difficulties when accessing the game from their consoles, and some report horrible framerate reduction as well.

As it is expected in an "Elder Scrolls" release, the game boasts a dizzying number of quests, NPCs, and story arcs that further flesh out the complex and wide-reaching lore of the continent of Tamriel in particular, and the world of Nirn in general. Add some stunning next-gen graphical quality and an expansive game map, and gamers are treated to exhilarating visuals and exciting content that will make any system with less powerful hardware crawl to a halt.
Players who took no time in setting up the game on their consoles, after "Tamriel Unlimited" was released, reports that while there are many areas where the game runs smoothly, there are times, especially when there are a lot of players online, when the framerate would suddenly be bogged down. This becomes especially problematic when the player travels to a densely populated village where a lot of player-character and NPC interaction takes place simultaneously.
While framerate isn't exactly the biggest issue when playing single player games, it becomes a significant hindrance in Massive Multiplayer Online games (MMOs). Slow framerate might bog down one console, but the rest of the players are still experiencing the action in real-time, putting the former in a clear disadvantage on hunts or duels.
An article posted by IGN mentions that gamers also experienced an inability to log in because of a launch day server overload.
Fortunately for Bethesda, the rest of the transition from PC to console seems to have gone off without a hitch. Game Informer reports that the game's controls are quite sensible and easy-to-use on a controller with more limited command capabilities than a keyboard.
As for gameplay, gamers report that combat is well-suited to consoles, thanks to the minimalist action bar which contained up to five ability slots.
