Spotify Press Announcement

(Photo : Getty Images/Taylor Hill) Spotify is now doing beta testing for Android.

The most in-demand music service had started to take a move to join the growing group of top apps with beta communities.  Although like any other beta programs, users will have to post an "application" before getting approved by Spotify.

Greenbot reported that public beta testing is known for both small and large Android developers. Microsoft went to this direction with Office for Android tablets and smartphones. Beta testing lets companies to get consumers' opinions that wants to try the latest features and are willing to experience inevitable bugs.

Android Police reported, on the other hand, that users should take note that the application process is not just a simple rubber-stamping, once the request is accepted by Spotify. Application forms will ask for Spotify username, community forum username and Google email address. Moreover, the beta tester is on a first-come, first-serve basis with limited slots available.

Greenbot explained that users who wish to apply, will have to go to Spotify's webpage and follow the given instruction. They will also need a username and password from the Spotify Community Forum.

Apple Music is reportedly going head on with Spotify, however that doesn't seem to be alarming Spotify. The CEO of the music streaming service only had two words to say to Apple's press release through a new blog post, he discloses that 20 million subscribers are now paying to subscribe to Spotify.

Android Police said, it's a reasonable head start and impressive figure for Spotify against Apple. The amount is double from 10 million users in 2014. Now, Spotify has 75 million active subscribers, which is 87 percent from 40 million in the previous year. It is understandable that while the service is expanding, subscriptions are coping up well, regardless of free online streaming.

Spotify is also addressing criticisms of low royalty payments. The music streaming Service Company said it has now paid more than $3 billion royalty fees. Spotify explained that in between January and March, it pays $300 million and it sustains its present growth rate of a new subscriber every three seconds.

Spotify is ready for the battle with Apple in a $526 million war chest as the Cuppertino-based company debuts Apple Music on June 30 at $9.99 per month.
