It is eight days to go before the three-time world champion Adrien Broner (30-1, 22 KOs) and former IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (25-1-1, 16 KOs) are set to meet at a catch weight of 144 pounds at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Broner said in a pre-fight press conference that he is "very blessed" to be recognized as one of the biggest crowd draws in the sport, as per Boxing Scene. Although the 25-year-old pugilist is not yet a marquee fighter like Saul Alvarez, Amir Khan, or Marcos Maidana, he already claims to be one as he is under the promotion of the pay-per-view king himself, Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Head-to-head, Showtime Porter is the larger fighter as he is used to fighting at the welterweight limit of 147 pounds. Broner, also known as The Problem, is a natural lightweight or super featherweight, which is why he required a catch weight to make the fight happen.
Broner's style is closely similar to Mayweather's because he is a personal apprentice of the pound-for-pound champion, as reported at Boxing News 24. He is also a highly defensive fighter who pot shots a lot and uses the shoulder roll pretty well, just like his master.
Meanwhile, Porter is not much of a puncher but a more technically gifted fighter who wears out his opponents round by round. He makes opponents miss with his head movements and good footwork. Overall, Showtime is a better boxer than Broner but can also slug it out when the situation calls for it.
It should be noted that one of Broner's weaknesses is when he is pressured by a bigger fighter, like what he showed during the only loss of his career to Maidana. And it is something that Porter have kept in mind.
"I'm the strongest fighter that Adrien Broner will ever get into the ring with," Porter said.
The 27-year-old intends to use his natural size advantage to try and bully his opponent, similar to what Maidana did to Broner.
When you look at the Tale of the Tape, both fighters appear to be evenly matched. Porter is a little taller at 5'7" while Broner is 5'6½". The reach is the same at 177 centimeters and both are orthodox fighters so expect an exciting fight between the two, according to Premier Boxing Champions.
The verdict: Broner by majority decision. Porter may be bigger but he doesn't have the power that Maidana has. The overall skills of The Problem will prevail.
