The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is considered to be the fastest tablet available, but it may not be the best-selling mobile gadget in the market.

Venture Beat reported that one of the most significant factors to look for a tablet today is its display. The Apple iPad Air 2 has 9.7-inch IPS Retina Display with 20148x1536 resolution, while Microsoft Surface Pro 3 comes with a bigger 12-inch Clear Type Full High Definition Plus Display at 2160 x 1440 resolution.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 uses the 4^th generation Intel Core processor i3, i5 and i7 variants that runs with a 64-bit architecture and TPM Chip for enterprise security. The Apple iPad Air 2, on the other hand, is powered by Apple's new A8X chip with 64-bit architecture and M8 motion coprocessor, according to V3.co.uk.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 has magnetometer with sensors, ambient light sensor, gyroscope and accelerometer while Apple iPad Air 2 comes with ambient light sensor, accelerometer, integrated Touch ID for the sensors, barometer and three-axis gyroscope. Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is equipped with Cover Port, full-size USB 3.0, Mini DisplayPort, micro SD card reader own Surface pen while Apple iPad Air 2 is settled with lightning connector port.

With the two tablets, one of the notable difference is the OS, since they both come from two different tech firms with their own OS. Microsoft Surface Pro 3 uses the Windows 8.1 Pro, which of course has the full PC functionality, as explained by V3.CO.U.K.  While, the Apple iPad Air 2 uses Apple's OS for tablets iOS8 and it is updated with functionality because of the Apple App Store.

Finally, the most important factor is the price. Microsoft Surface Pro 3 costs $799 while iPad Air 2 starts at $579. A buyer checks on different features of tablets like operating system, screen size, processor, display quality and internal storage before buying a device. Although, performance may not be the only thing important that affects the consumer's decision to purchase a tablet.
