Red Devils manager Louis Van Gaal is eager to sign a central defender and midfielder to boost thier attack. Lazio's duo of Stefan De Vrij and Felipe Anderson was on Van Gaal list. These two players seems right in the Red Devils playbook, recording 10 goals and dishing 7 assist in 32 league appearance on thier club last season.
Anderson is an attacking midfielder who can score a goal at any given time. Some Premier League giants seem interested to sign him, because of this particular ability. However, analysts think he should be suitable for Van Gaal's system. Hoffenheim Roberto Firmino is also on the radar of Manchester United, per Metro.
Although, Lazio defender De Vrij's exceptional 2013-14 Serie A season convinced Louis Van Gaal that he can be valuable on the Red Devils backline. He was playing great at Lazio all season until the final game, in which they beat Rafa Benitez's Napoli to qualify into UEFA Champions League next year.
Even though, when De Vrij was still playing at Feyenford, Manchester United was rumored that they offered him a deal, though it didn't materialize. Another reason why he could end up at Old Trafford is his experience under the tutelage of Van Gaal during his stint with Netherlands at 2014 FIFA World Cup, playing a monumental task alongside with Ron Vlarr on the backline.
Another player on the Red Devils list was Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng (via Mirror). German international was one of the tough defenders in the Bundes Liga for the past few seasons, and Manchester United wants to offer Jerome a deal which he can't refuse.
A diverse defender who can play at left back position. Van Gaal is confident he can be a great help on the team defense along with Chris Smalling and Phil Jones. Aside being a winner, he got tons of experience facing a lot of great players whom he defended throughout the course of his career.
