Thailand MERS: 175 Thais Exposed To Middle East Respiratory Syndrome

As South Korea has been reportedly no case of new Middle East Respiratory Syndrome patient, Thailand health ministry confirmed there are 175 people were exposed to MERS. The people who were reportedly exposed to MERS have been instructed to stay away from public.
MERS or Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirusalso known as novel coronavirus or nCoV is actually a respiratory illness. This was first known in Saudi Arabia last 2012. As of this moment the main caused of MERS is not yet confirmed, although this is known to be originated from animal.

Meanwhile in South Korea, no new MERS has been reported according to Reuters. However, the latest patient died because of MERS is a 63-year-old male who already had heart ailment and diabetes before he was confirmed positive in MERS-the victim died on Saturday.
On Friday, S. Korean health official reported that on May 20, the outbreak leveled off. In the same date, Thai health minister Rajata Rajatanavin told reporters the chances of a MERS outbreak in the country same disease that hit South Korea.
Based on the report of the source, the virus was first detected at a 75-year-old man who traveled from Oman and arrived in Bangkok. The man who was reported positive in MERS has been treated in Bangkok.
Meanwhile, as MERS hit neighboring country S. Korea and Thailand, Malaysia tightens up their health screening at all entry points in order to stop the spread of the virus. Deputy Health Minister Hilmi Yahaya told news agency Bernama, "Now, we are going further to include all entry points."
The deputy health minister also mentioned visitors who will arrive in the country would also be briefed on precautions to be taken in order to avoid being infected with the disease.
MERS was first identified in Saudi Arabia in 2012, while S. Korea is the largest outbreak outside Saudi Arabia. Blast from the past, Thailand had been faced bird flu, where 1 man died in 2003.
