Now, Tata Martino's side is pretty confident they could win the game and secure their spot in the Quarterfinals of Copa America. Argentina's confidence heading into the match with Jamaica was as evident as full-back Marco Rojo's wry smile before the start of the game. However, the so-called Reggae Boys were ready to put up a strong fight against the elite's of the South America, refusing to surrender an easy ticket to the quarters.

Manchester United midfielder Angel Di Maria and Messi led the initial attack in the first few minutes of the game, spearheading the possession of the ball. Just 11 minutes into the first half, Di Maria found his teammate Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain inside the penalty box. The former Real Madrid striker turned and incredibly found the back of the net using a low shot. Higuain got another chance several minutes later but it bounced off the top of the bar.

In the second half, Di Maria and Messi once again teamed up to give their squad a fair share of chances of making goals. Unfortunately, none of their plays resulted to a conversion, giving Jamaica a hope to score the equalizer down the stretch.

In the end, Argentina defense stood firm to preserve a 1-0 win in Messi's 100th game with his national team. Di Maria, meanwhile, was declared the Man of the Match as he provided the brightest attacking spark and the assist for Higuain's game-winner, per BBC Sports.
