Two Chinese teenagers overpowered a pair of veteran Scottish players to become champions of the 2015 Snooker World Cup held at the Wuxi City Sports Park Stadium in Wuxi, China on Sunday, June 21, as per BBC Sport.

China's B team made up of 15-year-old Yan Bingtao and 17-year-old Zhou Yuelong defeated 40-year-old former world champion John Higgins and 34-year-old formere UK champion Stephen Maguire of Scotland, 4-1, in the final of the said tournament.

The host nation, who were allowed to field in two teams, started strong with a blistering 3-0 lead before surrendering a frame to the Scots courtesy of Maguire's success over Yan. However, Zhou outpointed Higgins in the fifth frame to close out the championship and win the trophy.

Yan overcame Higgins in the first frame with a 100 while Zhou turned back Maguire in frame two with runs of 44 and 51. The duo won the doubles set of the third frame before Maguire put the Scots on the board in the fourth.

"Unbelievable! Magical! Our dream has been winning a world title. We just did not expect it happened so soon," Zhou told Focus News. "I think we were lucky to move past the group stage and luck has been on our side since then," the teenager meekly added.

The tournament favorites are actually the first Chinese pair of Ding Junhui and Xiao Guodong, which are China's no. 1 and no. 3 ranked snooker players. Junhui was part of the defending 2011 champions together with no. 2 Liang Wenbo.

Yan and Zhou bested the challenges of Australia in the quarterfinals and a gritty Wales team of Michael White and Mark Williams in the semifinals, 4-3, to setup the finals against former champions.

Higgins and Maguire had beaten China's A team, 4-1, in the quarterfinals, and then edged India in the semis, 4-3, with the latter winning the final frame when Aditya Mehta missed on a pink ball that could have sealed a victory.

This was a second straight victory for the Chinese in the World Cup of Snooker as the team of Junhui and Wenbo beat Northern Ireland's Mark Allen and Gerard Greene, 4-2, during the 2011 edition of this tourney, via Sporting Life
