A 35 year old Australian woman, never been mentioned her name, was rushed to Royal Adelaide Hospital after having suffered severe swelling below the knees in both legs, so much so that doctors had to cut her jeans off the previous day, says reports on Monday in the journal Neurology, Neurosurgery & Psychiatry.

She confided to the doctors that before that day, while she was helping her relative in moving, she already spend an hour squatting to empty cup boards. At that moment, she wears a skinny tight jean and after that she noticed that her jeans increasingly snug as time passes by it makes her uncomfortable to move, according to Yahoo Health.
She tried to ignore it but she suddenly fell to the ground and lay there for several hours before someone seen her and taken to the said hospital.
At the hospital, Neurologists tried to find out what have had happened and what have gone wrong. Tests shows that her hip muscles and knees are normal, however, she had almost no muscle strength in her ankles and toes. It showed from a CT scan of her legs that there are signs of muscle damage in her calves, according to NPR.
According to conducted tests, her tibial nerves, which provides movement and sensation to the calf and foot, and her peroneal nerves, which run from the outside of the knee down the foot and ankle, weren't sending signals properly to her brain.
Muscle pressures can cause nerve damage and in the case of the peroneal nerves, wearing high boots, squatting or pressure came from crossing legs are the clues which they've derived.
"The wearing of 'skinny' jeans had likely potentiated the tibial neuropathies by causing a compartment syndrome as the lower leg swelled," the report concluded.
After what have happened, the victim recovered. After spending four days at the hospital and with the help of intravenous fluids, she regained her ability to walk again and decided to go home already. No reports since then if she wears skinny jeans again.
