After a successful race victory at Catalunya, Telefonica Movistar Yamaha Racing Jorge Lorenzo is back ahead of this weekend to continue his run for the MotoGP Championships.

Coming from his fourth consecutive wins, Lorenzo has tons of confidence ahead of this weekend Motul Grand Prix in Assen. Though he had some bad memories on the circuit the past few years, Lorenzo hopes his strong campaign as of late will help him overcome his demons.

The last victory he had on this circuit happened way back six years ago, when he captured his maiden MotoGP World Championships for the first time in 2010. Since then the Spaniard had only one top five finish on this track, having suffered multiple crashes caused by the weather or an incident with his rivals, according to Fox Sports.

In 2011, the LCR Honda rider Marco Simoncelli took him out of the race, leaving him fuming with anger and despair. The next year it was another LCR Honda rider in Alvaro Bautista, who took him out of the race.

Lorenzo had another bad break on the same circuit in 2013, when he suffered a broken collarbone during a wet free practice sessions. The initial diagnosis ruled him out of Sunday's race, but after spending 24 hours at the hospital, a determined Spaniard came back on the paddock on race day and valiantly rode with extreme pain.  Lorenzo finished 5th in that race but he showed a lot of character for pulling off such gutsy feat.

Despite his poor showing on this track the past five years, he still believed Assen is always a highlight race on the MotoGp calendar. Moreover, he has a feeling that his bike's strong performance as of late will have an immense effect on the race ahead, as the circuit is specially designed for motorbikes with the flowing layout and some high-speed corners.

With an unsettled weather conditions expected this weekend in Holland, the Spaniard will have to look out on the weather forecast to give him a better chances of overtaking Valentino Rossi, who has six Grand Prix win on this track, for the top spot of the Championship Standings after this weekend.
