According to Gizmodo, Samsung laptops are not supporting the latest update by Windows. The Samsung devices come with a SW updater that is used to update the drivers, firmware and other stuff in its laptops.

This updater is being marketed as one of the simplest way to take back-ups, share music, videos, and also ensure the smooth operation of the system; however, the sad part about the routine SW updater is that it comes with a program that disables windows update. This program practically inhibits the system from updating the operating set-up and even searching for new updates is prohibited. Even when users try to enable the windows update, Samsung conveniently disables the setting each time the system is rebooted, ensuring that the users are not able to proceed.

As of now, the only solution to this problem seems to be disabling the Windows update completely. Here again, the end users are at a major loss. This is because Windows update do much more than just increasing the efficiency of the operating system. These extensive updates that happen on a regular basis actually help in sealing the security problems or loopholes that are created in the system. This update by Samsung comes shortly after users faced similar problems with Lenovo's Superfish malware, further reiterating the fact that bloatware is a problem causing subject in every update.

Another report on Computer World said that Microsoft and Samsung had confirmed the issue. On its part, Samsung said that the security threat was a serious matter and so they have already started to work in this direction and are confident of addressing the problem soon.

The problem was highlighted when a Patrick Barker, a reverse engineering expert, came across the issue. Barker was quick to notify the Samsung technical support about the problem who even acknowledged it, but still defended the purpose.
