Last week, there were rumors that the Los Angeles Lakers were targeting the 39-year-old floor general to be a guide for the team's young backcourt duo of D'Angelo Russell and Jordan Clarkson, but with the Wolves' acquisition of Miller, the Hollywood guys seemed to have missed again even on the scraps of free agency.

Bleacher Report noted that while Miller will receive almost one a half million dollars as compensation, the actual salary cap hit would only be $947,000 for Minnesota, which is still an advantage however slightly.

The 2002 NBA assists leader had been one of the most reliable journeymen in the league in a career that began in 1999 with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Wolves will be his eighth team in the NBA in 16 seasons.

Miller last played for the Sacramento Kings after he was traded from the Washington Wizards during last season's trading deadline for Ramon Sessions.

With the signing, the former Utah Utes' standout will now provide the guidance to Minnesota's young point guards Ricky Rubio, Zach LaVine, and 24th overall pick Tyus Jones, although one of these three may be on the trading block after Miller's hiring.

There were also speculations that the Wolves are looking to add another veteran free agent point guard, Kendall Marshall, but with Miller secured it looks like Minnesota will not push through with the pursuit any longer.

There top remaining free agents that can somehow play the no. 1 spot are Jason Terry and J.R. Smith.

The Lakers are not interested in signing the mercurial Smith even for a bargain, as per Lakers Nation, while Terry was reportedly waiting for a deal to stay with the Houston Rockets after DeAndre Jordan decided to ditch the Dallas Mavericks and stay with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Terry was pondering of a return to the Mavs upon news that Jordan will be joining Mark Cuban's team early this month. But following Jordan's duplicity, The Jet decided to remain in Houston where he will have a better chance of winning another title.
