Western Conference-leading Vancouver Whitecaps (12-8-3, 39 points) is set to face Real Salt Lake (7-8-8, 29 points) for a 2015 Major League Soccer regular season match at the BC Place in Vancouver on Saturday, August 8.

Vancouver is currently sitting on top of the West with FC Dallas and LA Galaxy dangerously close with just a point and two points behind the Caps in the standings. The Claret and Cobalt are fighting for a place in the postseason and are three points behind the Seattle Sounders for the sixth and last playoff spot.

Both teams are coming off matches in the 2015-2016 CONCACAF Champions League. Carl Robinson's group settled for a disappointing draw against a Sounders team composed mostly of reserves in their game Wednesday, via SB Nation.

Meanwhile, the Royals came up with a 1-0 win versus Guatemalan club CSD Municipal after an early goal from Ecuadorian forward Joao Plata, as per the Salt Lake City Sun Times.

The MLS official website reported that this is the third meeting between these two football clubs this season, with Vancouver winning the previous two. Jamaican striker Darren Mattocks will be leading the Caps again in offense to try and score another win against La Realeza.

The prediction is a 2-0 victory for the Blue and White. The Royals are a resilient team, but they struggle when facing the top teams in the league.
