Lenovo has officially launched its newest flagship Vibe Z2 Pro, its first phablet with a 6-inch 1140 x 2560 pixel IPS display capable of 500-nits brightness output.

Vibe Z2 Pro sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset with a 2.5 GHz quad-core Krait 400 CPU. It comes with Adreno 330 GPU and 3 GB of RAM. It also carries 32 GB of internal memory but doesn't have a microSD card slot.

Vibe Z2 features a 6-inch Quad-HD display which is up against the Oppo Find 7 and LG G3. The Vibe Z2 Pro's back has a 16 megapixel snapper with optical image stailization, 4K video recording and dual LED capabilities.

The SIM card tray can accommodate two micro-SIM cards such as GSM and LTE.

The phablet is made of metal and weighs 179 grams. It measures thin at 156 x 81.3 х 7.7mm but Lenovo was still able to fit in a 4,000 mAh battery.

The price of the Vibe Z2 Pro is currently unknown but the company said it will be available this September.

The phablet may come in white, black and gold. It reportedly costs about US$800 in Russia where phones are relatively overpriced. It will definitely be cheaper in other parts of the world.

Vibe Z2 Pro is the device which was previously previewed at the Mobile Asia Expo in Shanghai last June.

Lenovo currently benefits from not having a direct Xiaomi competitor. Xiaomi's Redmi Note is the biggest smartphone offer from Xiaomi at 5.5-inch.

Xiaomi emerged in China and Micromax in India in 2014 as major headaches for the market leaders.

Samsung is no longer the largest smartphone seller in these countries but curiously, Lenovo reported a rise in profits and a rise in smartphone sales despite being beaten by Xiaomi as the second best in overall sales in China.
