In Indianapolis, one very brave little boy has been called a hero for saving his grandmother's life this past Sunday. Owen Durocher, age 6, was quick to respond to his grandmother's silent pleas for help when she stopped breathing.
Durocher's grandmother, Joy Turley, had fallen down her staircase early Sunday morning while the rest of her family had been asleep. The fall had rendered Turley helpless, and she struggled to breathe properly.

As she tried to lift herself up off of the floor, Turley began to beat the floor as hard as she could, trying to force herself to shout out for assistance. She later admitted that the only other noise she could have made was a barely audible cry.
In her condition, Turley knew she was in serious trouble. Yet her uncomfortable position made it impossible for her to successfully alert someone to help her.
But when young Durocher awoke to the noise of his grandmother repeatedly hitting the downstairs floor, he immediately sprang into action. Without bothering to wake up his parents, Durocher rushed to his grandmother's aid.
After hurriedly analyzing his grandmother's situation, Durocher repeatedly called out for both of his parents. Durocher was successful in his attempt, and medics arrived to take Turley to Franciscan Saint Francis Health soon after.
Turley was left in the care of Dr. Irwin Labin, who had discovered that Turley was in shock and was in serious need of mechanical ventilation. An order was made for open heart surgery, but Dr. Labin was quick to mention that Turley had a fast recovery period from her original condition after only 24 hours.
While Turley awaited her time to return home with her family, she expressed an immense amount of gratitude for her brave young grandson. She was the first to admit that if it had not been for Durocher, she certainly would not have made it out of her situation alive.
And as for Durocher? He will be rewarded with a superhero themed party of his choosing, to celebrate his fearless act of love.
