Michelle Rodriguez is determined to make "Fast and Furious 8" a success even without Paul Walker. The actress, who plays Letty Ortiz in the franchise, shared that the cast and crew would have to work harder to surpass the story of "Furious 7."

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Rodriguez admitted that fans of the movie watched the seventh film out of respect for Walker. She claimed that the writers have to step up their game in the next one, adding that they could no longer rely on the same formula time and again.

"What happened with 'Fast 7,' I don't want to say it's a fluke, but people came out of the woodwork to show love for Paul, and that's something you're not going to have in the equation with the next one," she said.

Vin Diesel's onscreen partner added that "Furious 8" must have a story that would touch the hearts and souls of people.

Although the cast for the next movie has yet to be announced, Rodriguez shared that she already has a list of whom she wanted to see in the film. The "Lost" star said that she would love to see another strong female lead, adding that Angelina Jolie would be perfect for the role.

When asked about the possible plot, Rodriguez said that she would not want it to be just like any other action movie, wherein the women ended up fighting each other.

"I feel like it's time to evolve girls," she said. "Let's stop hitting each other and let's stop fighting each other, and let's start getting together and ganging up on people."

Meanwhile, according to Christian Post, Kurt Ruseell will be joining the cast and reprising his role as Mr. Nobody in the next installment. The publication noted that The Rock has shared a photo of the two actors on set with the caption, "Torrento Tuesday."

Digital Spy also previously reported that "Fast and Furious 8" will be set in New York City. Speaking to the outlet, Diesel confirmed that Russell's character will be playing a much bigger role in the next film.
