Blake Shelton is not ready to compete with his estranged wife Miranda Lambert in terms of writing break up songs. The country singer may just have confirmed that the "Over You" singer is in the process of writing a new diss track about their failed marriage.

According to Radar Online, Shelton is not going to even try to outdo Lambert in coming up with a new single.

"Even after the split, Blake was the first one to declare that she's not only a better lyricist than him, but she's also a faster songwriter," the insider said.

A source close to the couple claimed that Shelton wanted to take the high road. The singer reportedly did not want their fans to take sides on the split.

"He's not interested in going to war with Miranda, and he especially hates the idea of alienating her fans."

Shelton also allegedly claimed that it was no use competing with his wife, admitting that she has more fans than him. He also said that she is a much better artist and songwriter.

The publication also noted that since the singer is busy with "The Voice," he did not have much time to spare on the recording studio.

Last week, Lambert posted a photo in Instagram, updating fans about her recent song writing session. Many started to speculate that the new track will be about her marriage with Shelton. It was said that the song will finally give fans a background on what caused the split.

As previously reported by Star magazine, via Celeb Dirty Laundry, insiders close to the couple claim that Lambert only used Shelton to advance her career. The outlet held that the country singer never really had feelings for Shelton, adding that she only used him for publicity.

Shelton reportedly caught Miranda cheating when he hired a private investigator to follow her on tour. The publication held that Shelton saw the singer hugging another man backstage.

"They were forced to admit everything, it was obvious what was going on," the source said. "Blake filed for divorce, as far as he is concerned this whole marriage was a mistake."
