'Destiny: The Taken King' Update: 'Rift' Expansion Requires Too Much Storage Space; Two Patches Required To Complete Process

(Photo : Youtube) Destiny was released on September 9, 2014, for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One consoles. It marked Bungie's first new franchise since the Halo series, and the developers have a ten year plan for the franchise.
"Destiny: The Taken King" is set to launch an expansion next month where "Rift," a new capture-the-flag type mode, will be introduced. But this massive update will reportedly put "Destiny's" community into a rift because of the lack of enough space for the new-Gen consoles to install the required patches in the expansion.

"Destiny: The Taken King" has got a huge expansion. This is why Bungie has mandated the use of two patches for complete delivery. The first of the two patches will be available on Sept. 8, while the last one will be out on Sept. 15. This will happen on the same day "The Taken King" goes live.
"Destiny: The Taken King" reportedly is to modify several essential elements of the "Destiny." In line with this, Bungie announced that all players need to install regardless of whether they have purchased the expansion or not.
Unfortunately, this doesn't quite sound like a good news for players on the last-Gen consoles, especially the PlayStation 3, Gamespot reported.
"Destiny: The Taken King" expansion will require Xbox 360 nearly 10 GB of free space in order to install the update and PlayStation 3 needs 20 GB. Once the update is installed on the PlayStation 3, it will take up 20 GB of space.
"Destiny: The Taken King" requires up to 30 GB on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, which is considerably larger than what certain models of both consoles can offer. As for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, the consoles will need up to 60 GB of unused space to install the expansion.
"Destiny: The Taken King" players are advised to upgrade their consoles to be able to accommodate the up and coming expansion. In an interview, Bungie told gamers, "Upgrade your console. Your Destiny Characters, gear, and progress will currently transfer if you upgrade either from PS3 to PS4 or from Xbox 360 to Xbox One. Cross family data transfer (e.g. PS3 to Xbox One or Xbox 360 to PS4) is not supported," Activision reported.
