Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano and general manager Ryan Grigson were known to have had some public disagreements over the course of their four-year tenure as officials for the team, but they both do not consider it as a "deep-rooted" problem, as reported by the Indianapolis Star.

Both men assured reporters that there is no beef between them, but, yes, there were issues that needed solutions as well.

"It's hard enough to win in this league when everyone's getting along," said the 43-year-old executive. "You've got no shot if you're not. It makes no sense for us to be going in opposite directions. That's not the case. Trust me. At the end of the day, we always do what's best for the horseshoe. Period."

The 54-year-old coach, who battled leukemia in 2012 but still ended up coaching the Colts late that year, agreed to his GM by saying "we have no egos around here. Everybody checks them at the door every day they come to work. Players, coaches, myself, Ryan. The only thing that matters is the 'shoe and what's best for the 'shoe."

It should be noted that differences between a team's head coach and GM are commonplace in the NFL, but it does not hinder in any squad's run for a Super Bowl title. Which is to say speculations about a beef between Pagano and Grigson were just normal.

However, what is making the rumor interesting is that Pagano is entering the final year of his contract with the Colts and he had just rejected a one-year contract extension offer from them.

Fox Sports indicated that it was the "likely cause" of friction between the two along with Grigson's growing control about "playing decision" that involved personnel and lineup changes. Of course, these kinds of things irritate any head coach.

Despite not missing the playoffs ever since he was handling the Colts, Pagano is reportedly in danger of losing his job next year if they do not win the Super Bowl this season, as per CBS Sports.

Owner Jim Irsay, who is a long-time supporter of Grigson, had mentioned in May something about "winning Super Bowls" and "back-to-back Super Bowls", which may have given so much pressure on Pagano.

With the coach's future not locked in Indianapolis as of the moment and the tension between him and his GM escalates by the minute, it remains to be seen if Pagano would still be with the Colts this time next year.
