New 'hope' shines on the Longtoushan township as the first temporary Hope Primary School was built and inaugurated on Tuesday after a 6.5- magnitude earthquake hit Yunnan province in Southwest China.

In spite of the devastation brought about by the massive quake with epicenter at the Longtoushan township in Ludian County, China's youth still have hope of rising again as the completion of the primary school was finished according to schedule.

With 20 rooms to accommodate over 500 students, the primary school is ready to shelter Ludian County's learning minds.

Around 300 affected children were allotted 1,000 yuan each from the China Youth Development Fund. Around 5,000 more will be added by the foundation after they have collected necessary data on affected primary school students.

Volunteers from the foundation have already distributed books and other school supplies to prospective students on August 11. They have begun teaching and playing with students even before the school was built.

Makeshift classrooms for the primary school were erected just in time for the upcoming semester on September 1, each covering 56.8 square meters of floor area.

During the August 3 quake, several structures including school classrooms were completely destroyed.

Thousands of people were injured while the death count reached almost 1,000.

The August 2014 earthquake is now dubbed as the largest earthquake to hit Southwest China in the last decades.
