(Photo : debscherrer) Android Auto update will be available to 14 ranges of Chevrolet vehicles with MyLink Infotainment System starting March 2016.
Chevrolet's 2016 line up of vehicles that feature MyLink Infotainment system will get an update in March 2016, including Android Auto into their dashboards. This update will span all 14 vehicles, ranging from subcompact cars to trucks.
Android Auto will be replacing the Android mobile OS. It is capable of navigation through Google Maps, Google Now and music streaming applications to name a few.

On top of this, Chevrolet's update will enable drivers to switch from the small smartphone screen to a large touchscreen on the dashboard, highlighting eye-free and voice interactions.
Although this software is powered by a smartphone, it requires a compatible host car to be able to use the microphone, speakers and the touchscreen, making the update necessary.
Chevrolet car owners are advised to go to the nearest Chevrolet car dealer in their area to get the update, said Alan Batey, President of GM North America and Global Chevrolet. He further added that they are currently collaborating with their dealers to make the update process fast and minimize any inconvenience on the part of the customer.
On the other hand, Chevrolet drivers who are thinking of switching their phone from Android to IPhone need not worry, Mashable explains.
In early 2015, Chevrolet made a promise to bring both Android Auto and CarPlay software to its vehicles, CNET recalls. Because these vehicles are equipped with both Android Auto and CarPlay, the driver may plug either an Android phone or an IPhone to the USB carport and it will be able to power both systems.
Once the update is set in place, drivers will then be able to power the software with their compatible smartphone. For the Android Auto, the phone must be running on at least the Android Lollipop 5.0 system, while for the CarPlay it requires at least an IPhone 5 or higher, to the MyLink system's USB port.
