Apple co-founder Steve Jobs had mulled the creation of an "Apple Car" in 2008 but eventually decided against it, revealed one his former top honchos.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Tony Fadell, who led Apple's iPod division from 2001 to 2010 and is now CEO of Google's parent company, Alphabet, revealed that he had discussions with Jobs on multiple occasions to brainstorm on what features the 'Apple Car' would have.

"We had multiple meetings about the car and we would throw hypothetical questions at each other like what kind of dashboard would it have? What would the seats be? How will the consumer power it," Fadell said of his conversations with Jobs.

Unfortunately, Jobs, who died in October 2011, changed his mind and decided to focus more on Apple's efforts with the iPhone, which accounted for two-thirds of the company's net revenue last year.

If an Apple Car is in the works now, Apple will face growing competition from tech giants Tesla, Google, and traditional automakers Toyota, if it decides on entering the electric car market.

The technology grapevine has been awash with talk that Apple recently hired hundreds of employees to develop the electric vehicle, and are said to start production and testing by 2020.
