Hong Kong coffee enthusiasts opt to spend more of their money on a quick caffeine fix compared to residents of eight other major cities such as New York and London, according to a British study via BBC News.
Hong Kong is almost at par with Dubai when it comes to spending on a cup of frothy cappuccino. Dubai places second in the list of major cappuccino consumers.

An average cup of coffee in Dubai costs the same as the cup of coffee in Hong Kong, which costs HK $34 (US $4.39).
This cost is approximately twice the price of an average coffee in Istanbul, which only costs HK $19 (US $2.49). At the Starbucks branch in Istanbul, a large-size cup of cappuccino is priced lower rate than the cost of the smallest cup of coffee in London.
"The cost of coffee may be an effective barometer for travelers looking to work out how much to budget whilst away, at least when it comes to food and refreshments," said Shane Forster, manager of Voucherbox.
Voucherbox is a UK-based voucher code website that conducted the study comparing coffee prices around the world and how much consumers can spend on coffee on an average basis.
Voucherbox created a comparison of the prices of a medium-sized cappuccino between Starbucks and McDonalds. The rest of the data gathered for other prices were obtained from Numbeo, a global price database.
The study was conducted before National Cappuccino Day, celebrated in the United States on November 8.
Other major cities like Paris, Seoul and Singapore bagged the third, fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
New York ranks sixth in the list, whose average consumer shells out HK $31 (US $4.00) for a cup of coffee.
Seventh place went to London, where the coffee lovers can pay HK $31 (US $3.87) for cappuccino.
