New Liverpool FC boss Jürgen Klopp is reportedly planning a shock transfer swoop for Bayern Munich scoring machine Robert Lewandowski in January as the Polish forward's agent told some reporters that his client is "attracting interest" from the Premier League giant.

The Daily Mirror reported that Maik Barthel, Lewandowski's agent, had confirmed the interest by the Reds to the 27-year-old striker, especially after his ongoing superb campaign in Bundesliga this season.

So far, the Poland international had been unstoppable up front for the Bavarians, scoring 19 goals in 18 appearances in all competitions for the Allianz Arena residents.

"It would be wrong to say there is no interest (from the Premier League)," Barthel hinted. "(But) all of us should respect that Robert has a contract at FC Bayern."

Lewandowski is the former player of now Reds manager Klopp at Borussia Dortmund from 2010 to 2014. Klopp had built a close bond with the player as he developed him into one of the most competent goal scorers in Germany until his move to Munich in the winter transfer window of 2014.

Caught Offside noted that with Klopp now handling Liverpool, "links between the two have naturally resurfaced given the good nature of their relationship during their time working together at Borussia Dortmund."

However, there is no confirmed amount that Bayern would be willing to sell Lewandowski for, or if there is any official indication that the German champions will actually do so.

Latest rumors of Der FCB head coach Pep Guardiola moving to Chelsea or Manchester City have surfaced as the 44-year-old Spanish bench tactician expressed his interest on not signing an extension with Bayern when his contract expires next summer.

With Guardiola's exit looming, it seems that the current Bayern lineup will also cease to exist as most of their top players are being targeted by wealthy Premier League and La Liga clubs, including the team's best player, Thomas Müller, who had long been eyed by Louis van Gaal at Manchester United since last summer.
