Tech giant Microsoft has announced its commitment deliver services for its cloud platform during a conference in Australia. The Redmond-based company said that its Azure platform will focus on mobility and security.
The announcement was made by Microsoft vice president for enterprise mobility Brad Anderson during the Microsoft Ignite Australia 2015 event. Anderson said in order to keep the company on top of the cloud market, it has set three "ambitious" goals; create an intelligent cloud platform, reinvent business productivity, and make personal computing more personal, according to ZDNet.

In terms of an intelligent cloud platform, Anderson said that Microsoft has already achieved that goal following the company's successful Azure launch in Australia. Following the launch, there was a four-fold increase in the use of its public cloud platform. Anderson added that 50 percent of all Australian enterprises are now using the Azure platform.
In terms of global presence, Microsoft claims that 40 percent of Azure's international public cloud revenue comes from startup companies, small and medium enterprises, as well as independent software vendors.
Microsoft announced that it is partnering with Australian-based Megaport and NextDC to deliver Microsoft Office 365 Express Rout in order to enable users migrate to the cloud platform. According to CCT News, prior to the recent deal, Microsoft had already partnered with six other Australian cloud solution companies; Buttonwood Cloud Exchange, Datacom, Data#3, Dimension Data, SaaS Plaza, and Rackspace.
With the expansion of its cloud platform, Microsoft highlighted that it is also upgrading its security protocols in order to ensure all users' information remain safe.
Anderson said in a statement that "Corporate data and application is no longer safe behind a firewall. Much of the data is now moved into the cloud, so fundamentally the perimeter that we've always based our security on has evaporated and we have to figure out what security means in a whole different light to before."
