Ron Ng is Satisfied with Role in ‘Black Heart White Soul’

Hong Kong actor Ron Ng says the new TVB production 'Black Heart White Soul' has been one of the most satisfying dramas he has ever filmed in recent years.

"Black Heart White Soul," also considered as the sister production of another critically acclaimed TVB drama entitled "Last One Standing," has been receiving much attention lately, particularly the morally conflicted characters that give life to the thriller drama.

Ron Ng stars in the drama as Funny Sir, a cop that indirectly exposes the villain. Roger Kwok plays the villain, a lawyer who is paralyzed from the waist down but is very much capable of committing murder.

Ron Ng's character then feels guilty about exposing that of Roger Kwok's persona in the story and befriends him. Eventually, the former would find out that the latter has been using him all along for his personal gains.

Ron Ng playing a cop isn't a new thing as he has portrayed the role at least six times throughout his 13 years as an actor. However, the star claimed that playing Funny Sir in "Black Heart White Soul" has been different from the other brave cop roles he's played in the past.

The 34-year old actor said Funny Sir personifies a man who is very emotional, and compared to his other cop roles, this one is 'very human'. Ron Ng's character injures the villain while on a mission and in turn feels guilty about it. Eventually, the character would encounter a crossroad regarding his moral boundaries.

The "Turning Point" star has received commendations for his improved acting in the drama, but when asked if he was vying for the Best Actor award, he said, "I never thought of winning an award... It's more important to win the audience and have good word-of-mouth."
