President Xi Jinping to Attend Paris Climate Conference, Visit Zimbabwe and Chair Forum in South Africa

(Photo : Photo by Photo by Muneyoshi Someya - Pool /Getty Images) Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to attend the opening of the climate change conference in France, pay a state visit to Zimbabwe and chair a forum in South Africa over the next two weeks.

This will be a busy end-of-the-month for Chinese President Xi Jinping as he has a lot of international engagements to attend to - the climate conference in Paris, a state visit in Zimbabwe and FOCAC in Johannesburg.

The spokesperson of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday that Xi will attend the opening of the climate change conference in Paris which will be held from November 29 to 30. The president was invited by the French President Francois Hollande and French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius.

According to a report by China Daily, White House officials also announced on Tuesday that President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Barrack Obama will meet on the first day of the climate change conference to discuss important environmental issues.

On December 1 and 2, President Xi will pay a state visit to Zimbabwe for the first time after receiving an invitation from the Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe. According to The Washington Post, the visit will include discussions about infrastructure, investment, wildlife protection, financing and culture.

From Zimbabwe, the president will travel to Johannesburg in South Africa from December 2 to 5 to attend the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) where he will serve as a co-chairman. Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming said that the forum will tackle urgent security issues.
