Apple has released the Smart Battery Case, a powerbank/case that is intended to extend the iPhone 6s' short battery life. All is well and good, however, the online community is abuzz with something unusual for an Apple product; the Smart Battery Case is ugly. It looks awkward, bulky and more like an Apple April Fool's joke than a real product.

According to the website, the product promises "increased talk time up to 25 hours, Internet use up to 18 hours on LTE, and even longer audio and video playback." The site did not indicate the exact specification and capacity of the battery case.

The Smart Battery Case comes in black or white and is priced at $99 USD.  The product comes with new rubber exterior/microfiber interior and is also compatible with the iPhone 6.

Apple is known for beautiful, well-design products. The company is known for having a pretty high standard in their products' aesthetics. This has, for the most part, helped the company be the billion-dollar behemoth that it is now.  That's why a design that looks like it came from the 80's is bewildering.  

Despite the fact that the product isugly , it is still expected to sell. The market has seen proof that a product only needs an Apple logo for people to line up to purchase it.
