The iPhone 6 will likely be unveiled in September and the Apple loving public's excited about the larger screen variant.

Other than this core feature, a change that could have even more impact on the daily use of the next-gen device is the rumored reversible USB-to-Lightning cable, whose existence was recently leaked.

Leaks reveal a Lightning cable with a USB connector that can be plugged in different ways. Photos of what seems to be a prototype of the device was shown on Nowhereelse.fr. The same purported images were later posted by parts tipster Sonny Dickson in MacRumors.

Meanwhile, the almost-unscratchable screens of the iPhone 6 are said to go into mass production in August.

Apple is said to have a US$578 million deal with manufacturer GT Advanced Technologies in Arizona. Technology blogger Marques Brownlee said future iPhone 6s will be good even without a screen protector.

He claims to have made durability tests on a leaked prototype of the screen by stabbing it with a hunting knife and trying to break it while he stood on it.

Apple already ordered its first batch of 70 million to 80 million handsets to be delivered from the factories by Christmas and New Year, said The Wall Street Journal. The iPhone 5S introduced the company's first fingerprint sensor.

According to the rumor mill, the larger iPhone 6 variant will have a 2915 mAh battery capacity which is 85 percent bigger than the iPhone 5S. Another rumor from Chinese website Apple Daily says the next-gen iPhone will not be named iPhone Air but it will be called the iPhone 6L.

The remaining issue now is how much better the experience will be with a full 1080p HD video compared to an extended battery life or a larger screen.

Apple must have tested the variations and seems to be confident the iPhone 6L phablet will live up to the customers' bigger expectations by the time it unveils the new device.
