The iPhone 6 is now at its last test stage in preparation for volume production, said Chinese blog site Weibo.

Apple supplier Foxconn said the device is already at the product validation test (PVT) stage, which means the assembly line is checking if there are any glitches in the manufacturing process.

A few iPhone units will be made for quality control and its assembly line may be changed if required. Volume production will start once it passes the PVT.

Several reports claim the iPhone 6 will be powered by a 2.0 GHz A8 chipset and come with WiFi 802.11ac support and NFC.

The handset will have a Qualcomm MDM9x3 5 cellular modem with the NCF chip from NXP and the WiFi chip from Broadcom.

The iPhone 6's Touch ID fingerprint is also said to come with improvements that reduce false rebuffs, enhance fingerprint reading times and improve overall security for payments through the device.

Biometrics security is also said to be enhanced. Reports say the next-gen iPhone 6 will not have a sapphire crystal display.

According to rumors, the sapphire crystal display will be for the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 phablet version because of availability and supply chain issues.

GT Advanced's sapphire crystal production has increased tremendously but it could be for one of the iPhone 6 models and the upcoming iWatch.

While production of the 4.6-inch iPhone 6 was said to have stated in July, production of the 5-inch variant was said to have started in the second week of August. It's possible that Apple started production in July and ran into issues that resulted in a delay in volume production.

Apple is also rumored to be working on exclusive connectivity options between Beats headphones and the iPhone through the Apple Lightning connector.

It's said that Apple has been working on technology developed for Beats headphones and iPhones. Apple hasn't confirmed this information, however.
