Following the expiration of his contract with Konami, video game developer Hideo Kojima has reportedly signed a partnership with Sony. Kojima is prominent figure in the video game industry. He is well known as the creator of the "Metal Gear Solid" franchise.

Kojima's new studio will retain its iconic name Kojima Productions. However, unlike the deal with Konami wherein Kojima Productions worked as a subsidiary, the deal with Sony means that the studio will work as an independent entity.

Kojima Productions has already posted its new company logo and, as of this writing, its official website is already live. The studio is also looking for new talents to add into its pool.

Sony Computer Entertainment president and global CEO Andrew House said in a statement, "Hideo Kojima has been a huge part of that history, and we are therefore delighted that he has chosen to bring his brand new project to life in partnership with PlayStation. We look forward to working with him on an exciting new game and warmly welcome him to the PlayStation family."

News about his exit with Konami was reveal by Kojima himself through his Twitter account. The 52-year-old game developer posted that his contract with Konami expired as of Dec. 15.

Kojima is reunited with producer Ken Imaizumi and artist Yoji Shinkawa as the core figures of the new Kojima Productions studio. Kojima, Imaizumi and Shinkawa worked together on projects like "Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots," "Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker" and "Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes."

As part of his new partnership with Sony, Kojima and his Kojima Productions studio will create a new video game franchise exclusively for Sony's flagship console, the PlayStation 4. Both Sony and Kojima has yet to provide an insight about the new project but experts are expecting that the two parties will divulge information on upcoming events like the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo and the PlayStation Experience.
