Boxing News: Zou Shiming of China to Make a Return Fight in Shanghai for WBO International Flyweight Title

(Photo : gettyimages.com) Zou Shiming of China is set to make a return in the boxing ring on January 2016.

The former WBO International flyweight champion Zou Shiming is about to return to action in an International title match for the belt that he used to hold against the South American champion Natan Santana Coutinho in Shanghai  Oriental Sports Center, Shanghai China.

The Chinese boxing sensation Zou, has been missing in action since March after he lost toThailander boxer Amnat Ruenroeng in a title match for the IBF flyweight belt in Macau. It could have been his very first professional world title if Zou had won. The Chinese boxing star took an eight break from the sport of boxing and even participated in a reality TV show during his lay off period.

The 34-year-old pugilist has returned to his regular training and sets a comeback fight as the Chinese boxer found it hard to turn his back against the sports he loves.

According to Shanghai Daily, during an event to promote the upcoming boxing match, Zou stated that the he can smell the blood and it makes him miss the boxing ring.

"I might be considered young as a professional, but the fact is I'm probably the oldest Chinese boxer active in the ring," Zou told. "I will devote myself and concentrate on every single fight I'm competing in."

Zou has won three consecutive Olympic medals: bronze in 2004 Athens, Greece and gold in 2008 Beijing, China and 2012 London, United Kingdom Olympic Games. He also had won three gold medals in the World Amateur Boxing Championships in year 2005, 2007 and 2011.

Zou (6-1, 1KO) turned a professional boxer in January 2012 having a streak of six successive victories. He became the WBO International flyweight champion in July 2014 when he defeated the Columbian Luis De La Rosa. However, he lost the title due to long absence from the ring.

The Shanghai event will be Zou's first professional fight on the mainland as all of his previous seven matches were contested in Macau.

His Brazilian foe Natan Santana Coutinho, who is only 21 years old, has a perfect record of 12-0, 10 KO's.
